German Coast Guard
To celebrate Keane's induction into South County's first German Honor Society class, we thought we'd post our favorite German-themed commercial.
Last night, we attended a lovely dinner at the venerable Old Europe in Georgetown.
Our waiter was wonderful -- attentive and quite German. So, this is also dedicated to him.
Enjoy!

Hey! That's our lake in that Amex ad!
The 60-second spot featuring Martin Scorcese, Ellen Degeneres, Alicia Keys, and that snowboarder guy (you know him...he's that Ginger).
It just came on during Good Morning America and I had to rewind to see who was talking about Lake Winnipesaukee and why.
If you haven't seen it on TV, visit the Amex site and watch it online.
Here's a short article about Amex's Membership Project and the Lake Winnipesaukee project.

Like a Reprieve

Beyond my utter glee at learning that we can still get the original Suffering Bastard and some mean Trader Vic's Mai Tais in L.A. (poolside, natch) is the soul-pumping news that TV is expanding (again?).
Yup! According to Eater L.A. there will soon be a Trader Vic's in Las Vegas (!!) and Dallas and Seattle...the list goes on.
Rejoice. All your heartfelt prayers were heard.

Say It Isn't So!

First Alexandria's venerable Honolulu. Now this?
Defamer is reporting that Trader Vic's really is closing. No more reason for me to visit the Beverly Hilton. I'm not kidding.
I fear the era of convivially imbibing ridiculously strong tropical drinks surrounded by reminders of Bali H'ai really is coming to an end.
This may be the last (fruit-decorated) straw for me. Time to locate a proper home in Hawaii. South Pacific here I come!
